5 useful tips for a gamer!

with one comment

Gaming in modern day is something more than fast mouse clicks and good graphics. A gamer today earns and competes like a professional athlete and there is very less being said in against this. The demands off a modern day gamer are much, much more and there are things that need to be coached to a gamer – that they cannot learn on their own.

If I were to give a gamer 5 of my top tips, they would be:

1. Practice, practice, practice. If you aren’t the best, practice! These words were said by Jonathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel, himself. He believed in these himself and no one can challenge the status he achieved in gaming. There is no counter part to hardwork in practice. Get your sequences in order, get your strategies sorted out. Work on your micro, and your clicking. Work on you mistakes and keep learning.

2. Keep learning! You are never going to get farther than your screen if you don’t learn. The best way to learn is by losing. A person who loses has a better chance of marking out a set of mistakes he made that were different from the ones he made when he won. Mistakes will cost you. Some mistakes will cost you a game, some won’t. What those mistakes are are only going to come forward once you lose to someone.

3. Learn to lose, gracefully! There are a thousand better players than you. Never think the other person is a cheat, or a hacker. They might not be better than you, or they might just be a little lucky, learn to lose even if you lose to a noob and gracefully accept defeat. A person who learns to lose, learns to get over their mistakes sooner. Never underestimate an opponent. If you did, and he win, it’s your problem, not his.

4. Stay mannered! There is nothing more disgusting and unprofessional than being unmannered. A mannered player is well-respected whether he loses or wins. A winner is never considered a winner until he considers his opponent worth of some praise. All gamers need to be respected equally, regardless of their repute, or their game. Saying “good game” in the end of the game regardless of a win or a loss is always a good gesture. It’s better to have a bad game and good manners than have a good game and bad manners.

5. Stay aggressive yet cool! Most gamers end up losing because they tend to camp or tend to turtle up in their bases a lot. This gives others the time to stack up and come in for one final blow to win a game. This helps in some unbalanced situations, but rarely does it work against good players. Staying aggressive is the key. A non-assertive player will always invite an attack on him and in return as too little in skill from his opponent. Give it your best shot, stay aggressive and try to pick out on his mistakes! But in all this, keep your cool. Keep calm, whether winning or losing. In pressure or when pressurizing. Composure and calmness helps one think more easily and allows them to rethink things over again so that there are no eventual mistakes that one might make.

Winning a game is not about leveling up your status or adding +1 to your wins. It’s about gaining respect and status in a community that needs representable role models, not some wishy washy, whiners who can’t handle losing. There are gamers who have lost games and ultimately community repute due to hotheadedness, lack of pre-tour practice, lack of respect for others, lack of aggression and timing in their strategies. These are things that really matter and you’d be surprised as to how many people actually ‘lose’ thanks to their overlooking of these minor mistakes.
